EVENTS

Looking to host a clinic? Please send in a contact form along with what type of clinic you are interested in. I am willing to travel across the USA. My fee will vary based on location, length of clinic, and type of clinic.

Groundwork: In this type of clinic we go over how to achieve leading a horse that will stay by your side at all speeds and stops on a loose rope. I’ll teach all the different ways that a horse can be backed up, and ways to move a horse’s shoulders and hindquarters over separately. I will share about lunging versus circling and how our horses’ ground exercise can expand beyond just running in circles. More groundwork may include patterns with obstacles such as poles and cones. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how energy exchange works, how everything can be done in phases, and how our intentions play a large role in our horses’ attitude.

Liberty: In this clinic participants will get one-on-one instruction while being able to watch the other participants’ turns. We will begin on the halter where proper cues will be taught in regards to sending a horse out, calling them back in, and having them follow our feet. I will also teach how to properly position your body to create clear cues for your horse and how it is perceived by them. All these skills will then be put into action when we let the horse free, where we will practice keeping their attention and establish a connection without being physically attached.

Riding: In this clinic I will explain how to move a horse’s forequarters and hindquarters separately, how to use leg and hand aids as gently and quietly as possible, and how to create a responsive and in-tune horse. We will exercise correct body posture and movement to align with our horses in order to have a balanced horse in walk, trot, canter. Participants will learn how to have a soft back up and different ways of moving out of it. Patterns and obstacles will be included as visuals and to work on our skills. I will also talk about how to help your horse find relaxation and remain attentive to you. More riding skills will be taught based on experience level of the group.

Advanced Riding: In this type of riding clinic we will be building up to riding our horses tackless. Because of this participants and their horses MUST already be confident under saddle and have a clear ability to execute basic maneuvers such as stop, walk off, speed up/slow down, and turning. In order to be able to progress the most, this clinic is done with one-on-one instruction where participants take turns and can watch each other. Everyone’s first time will be in a saddle and halter to make sure that they are set up for success and go over asking their horse for maneuvers with loose reins and clear leg cues. In the second round, participants will ride their horse bareback. They may choose to use a bareback pad, or if uncomfortable, their saddle without stirrups. I will give a few exercises to work on trust and for practicing riding balance. I will then explain how to teach a horse to move off of feel on their neck rather than head and make the transition into riding with a neck rope.

Problem Solving: This clinic will be one-on-one with participants being able to watch each other. Issues can be as basic as picking up hooves, patience, untouchable horse, scared of fly spray, etc or more bigger problems in handling. If there is a problem under saddle, I will want to observe the horse on the ground first to assist with the issue before translating it to the saddle. Some problems presented in the clinic, especially more major ones, will likely not be completely solved within the time of the clinic. However participants will be given new things to work on and practice along with an outline to understand how to continue helping their horse. All participants must be PRE-APPROVED before signing up to ensure that all problems are known and prepared for, as well as unrelated to health that needs medical help rather than training. his paragraph section to get your website visitors to know you.
