ABOUT ME
About Jenny Gvozd
I first began riding when I was 4 with classical English lessons and have been taking lessons nonstop with various different trainers since.
When I was 7, my attention was snatched by a center that taught Natural Horsemanship. I learned how to communicate and work with horses while preserving their natural spirit and individual personalities.
I spent 2 years riding solely in a bareback pad and a rope halter/reins, mastering my balance with walk, trot, canter/lope, trail riding, jumping, and fun made-up obstacle competitions with friends. I switched to the saddle, riding in both Western, English and with a bitless bridle.
At age 11, I became a horse camp counselor for kids. This was my job during summer breaks until I was 15 when it was time to expand my knowledge further and venture out into the horse society after buying my first horse.
The horse was a hyper bay thoroughbred with a rough past. I wanted a horse that I could work with privately, I bought him knowing that he had a bucking/crow-hopping habit as well as other troubles and I wanted a challenge for myself. He became my treasured partner and educator. I turned him into an all-around horse with trail riding and camping, obstacles, liberty, and I taught him tricks (smile, fist-bump, nodding, shaking, rearing, fetching, etc).
During this time, I grabbed at any opportunity to gain new experiences and when I met someone who had a few horses, it gave me a chance to work with them and be the first to get on unridable horses and to work with a foal.
In September 2022, I was lucky to be able to attend a Conference and Film Festival at the University of Montana Western where I got to meet and listen to Buck Brannaman, Ty Murray, Dr. Stephen Peters, Dr. Robert Millers and many others. This got me interested in investigating beyond the basics of working with horses and I began to research about the horse’s neuroscience and body in order to understand and better communicate with them.
